Amateur Radio television on the ABC
-----------------------------------
Next Tuesday evening an item is scheduled about ATV on the
ABC show "TVTV" that goes to air from 6.30 pm to 7 pm on
your local ABC TV channel.
A "TVTV" crew came to the studio of the Gladesville Amateur
Radio Club in Sydney on Wednesday last, 27th October, to
video all that happened on the transmission, from set-up to
the last video item. The crew consisted of an anchorman,
camera man, sound man and the producer. They spent three hours
at the studio and were very interested in all that went on.
You may have already seen the item listed for next week at the
end of the Thursday night show this week (28th October) with
the clip showing Tim VK2ZTM presenting; so be watching ABC
Television on Tuesday night 2nd November at 6.30 pm to see
Amateur Radio gather some more publicity, hopefully
attracting more people to our hobby.
The time may vary from state to state with daylight saving
commencing this week, so it would be best to check your TV
guide.
If the scheduled date is altered for any reason, we will put a
message on the packet system asap.
The show again is "TVTV", ABC Television, usually 6.30 pm
start.

Uh, has the club's corporate identity passed a Morris exam?
Gary
(Hmmm ... no smiley ...)
License examinations are required only for operator licenses. Club
licenses are station licenses only and so don't require license exams.
Of course, any operator of that station must have a valid operator's
license with them. There's one included in your primary license,
Gary. Read the back of it for details. You might look at sections
97.5 and 97.7 if you're still unclear on the difference.
Or you could look in the latest "Now You're Talking," pages 2-0, 2-5,
and 2-15. Novice pool questions N1A07, N1A09, N1A10, N1B03, N1B06,
N1B07, and N1B10 test this material, so you can use them for review.
Hope this helps!

Hi there!!
I would like to know if there is any programs on the Macintosh
to help HAMs to keep their log?????
----
Kristoffer H{ggstr|m
tofi@krk.fi
PS. please reply to my personal address.
Sorry, but I have opted to post to Usenet for the benefit of everyone
else.
I'm not sure where logging programs for the Macintosh might reside, but
the ARRL has a nice listing of s/w available for the Mac.
You can get the info via e-mail from: info@arrl.org, with the body of the
message containing: send software-mac
or you could FTP into: world.std.com, in the directory:
/pub/hamradio/arrl/Server-files
The ARRL files on World are updated as often as the ARRL sends me the
updated versions of what they put on their server.
Hope this helps.

Subject: PK232 vs Kenwood
To: info-hams@ucsd.edu
I'm having a heck of a time with my PK-232 and Kenwood TS-680 (the 6M
version of a TS-140). If I plug the PK-232 into the ACC-2 jack on the
Kenwood (using an AEA made cable), the TX-audio on the Kenwood goes to
pot (basically, it acts as if I've got some sort of feedback loop).
I've tried all the "usual" fixes (made sure both the 680 and the 232
were grounded, strapped the two together, moved 'em apart, etc) and
nothing seems to help.
I've seen some stuff about other Kenwood rigs - anyone have any
suggestions?

Effective 0600 hours this date, the callsign at State OES

I think that the five and a half dollars the US pays per license, one
time fee, is a nice deal. If you successfully pass all your tests,
it would only cost about $22 dollars to become an EXTRA class license.
(Considering novice is a free, there's tech, gen, adv, then extra).
No, the $5.60 is an exam fee which you pay for each session no matter
how many elements you pass or fail and no matter how far you upgrade
or don't upgrade. If you can pass all the elements in one sitting,
you can get your Extra for one fee. Furthermore, Novice is free only
for some VE coordinators. The exam fee doesn't even go to the
government! It goes to reimburse exam expenses. Before volunteer
examining, you didn't even have to pay an exam fee. 'Course, time off
work might cost you more than $5.60 in 1993 dollars, because you had to
take the exam during working hours ...
The license fee is zero.
Anyway, some other countries have exam fees, too. Of course, they
don't usually have quite as many elements and quite as many license
classes as we do. We overcomplicate things.
